During December cycling weekly have been running a CW'S TOP 50 RIDERS OF 2008 ADVENT CALENDAR with the final 10 being revealed in their December 25th Issue, each rider getting a page to explain why they deserved to be in the top 10.
The issue is out and they placed Darren 7th overall, the highest placed Paralympian. First place went to Chris Hoy.

At oak Lodge we have 140 pupils that have a range of special needs. During the week beginning 29th June we are organising a week of sport that will include our Sports Day, swimming gala and we are hoping to organise days with premier sports and also Rubicon skateboard school. I am writing to ask if you would be our guest of honour at the pupils assembly on the Friday between 9am and 10.15 to award the pupils with their certificates, medals etc. It would be great for the pupils to receive their awards from you. I am the subject leader for PE at Oak Lodge Special School near Southampton. During the week beginning 29th June we are having a week of sport and the Friday morning we will have our sports celebration assembly. The pupils will receive their certificates, medals etc and we would like to invite you to be the guest of honour to hand out the awards to the pupils. Having a local Olympian would be a great inspiration to the pupils who all have special needs.
